Minutes of Board of Director's Meeting, May 10, 2012

Leesville Lake Association, Inc.

Train Station, Altavista, Va.


Present: Sherwood Zimmerman, Fred Tannehill, Julie Moore, Gordon Bratz, Bill Estes, Luis Revelle, Roger Winters

Absent: Danielle Apple, Richard Beaton, Kathy Dalton, Olga Kolotuhkinas, Pete Pettit, Sharon Reilly

Call to Order: President Zimmerman called meeting to order at 7 p.m.

Minutes of April 12 Meeting: Approved on motion by Tannehill, second by Moore.

Treasurer's Report (Submitted): Approved by hand vote on motion by Tannehill, second by Revelle.

Committee Reports

Membership (Moore): 326 members. 3 new since Sept. 1, ‘11. 70% renewal rate. Sold $176 in Quilt Raffle tickets. Newsletter to printer today; expect mailing next Mon. or Tues.

Debris (Winters): AEP skimmer to be at Brumfield on Beautification Day. 63 people signed up to help on Beautification Day to date. Rankin produced T-shirts. Skillman raised about $9,000 in sponsor funds or in-kind services. Proposed purchase of motor for Assn. boat; Revelle to inquire about same with source in Danville.

Navigational Aids (Pettit): Zimmerman said he or Pettit will attend meeting at AEP on May 30.

Water Quality (Lobue): Zimmerman said Shahady (Lynchburg College) will report observations, numbers, locations and assessments of Curly Leaf Pond Weed in lake throughout the year.

Safety (no chair)

Health (no chair)

Public Relations (Bratz): Report by e-mail dated May 6 sent to all members.

Old Business: None

New Business:

1. TLAC- Zimmerman reported status of discussions with members of TLAC; no decision regarding our membership.

2. Nominations for Board Membership- Zimmerman will convene Executive Committee to nominate candidates for election to Board; election to occur at Members’ Meeting July 14.
